Tunisian Crochet Tops Excerpt and Review

A Bit About the Author
Author Ashley Rivas is the creator of Tiny Couch Crochet, and this is her debut book! Here’s her author blurb:
“Ashley is an independent crochet and Tunisian Crochet designer, and the creator of Tiny Crouch Crochet. She has always had a fondness for both math and art, and she is thrilled to have found an outlet that uses both. With a technical background in engineering and lifelong love of the arts, Ashley was able to turn her passions into designing crochet clothing that fits! She has written many beginner-friendly patterns in both traditional crochet and Tunisian crochet, which can be found on her website…

Ashley lives in California with her husband, Joe, son, Weston, and two pups, Scout and Dougie. Outside of crochet, she has a love for reading, baking, and deep diving into any and all craft and art forms. “
And she was kind enough to share an expert from her book – the pattern for the Golden Hour Cardigan!
Golden Hour Cardigan
This pattern was designed by Ashley Rivas, and can be found in Tunisian Crochet Tops, copyright 2025! And because this is a full-length sweater pattern, I’ve decided to put it on a separate page here on Moogly – CLICK HERE to go to the Golden Hour Cardigan pattern – and keep scrolling to read the rest of the review and enter the giveaway!

My Peek Inside Tunisian Crochet Tops
Ashley has put together a true beginner’s book for Tunisian Crochet Tops! In the intro, she states that her goal with this book was to show that you can crochet “clothing-worthy drape with Tunisian crochet” – and I think she has succeeded!

There is a great section on Tunisian crochet basics, with super helpful pictures.

I was excited to see a page about stitch anatomy, pointing out exactly which loops are referred to in what way – I think this is where a lot of newbies get confused!

And of course, there are gorgeous patterns. Stripes, cables, cardigans, raglans, and cropped tanks – there’s a lot here to explore, and a style to suit almost everyone.

With sizes ranging from XS to 5X, this is a book for nearly every crocheter who wants to make their own tops and sweaters with Tunisian crochet!
