The 90’s are coming back in style! Fanny packs are popular again, especially if they can be worn as crossbody bags. THIS Crochet Granny Fanny Bag is one you can easily make! It is made up of four granny square motifs that are folded to make the pouch. Add a crochet strap and a zipper to complete the piece! I am going to be walking you through this project on the Yarnspirations Facebook Page Wednesday April 12th at 12pm EST but you can always get started right now by downloading the free pattern HERE. I am providing several photos of the process below to help you along.
You will need one skein of Red Heart Super Saver Stripes Yarn (I chose color Retro Stripe because I have a ton of it in my stash right now from my cardigan project) and a skein of Red Heart Super Saver in white or soft white (I’m using soft white).

Slip Stitch or SC the edges together
Single Crochet along the top.
Add the strap!
I purchased a set of brightly colored 12 inch zippers from Amazon that coordinate perfectly!
It is easiest to sew the zipper on with a sewing needle and embroidery thread.
Easy-peasy bright and cute and functional!
NOTE: Many of you have said that “Granny Fanny” means something else LOL! I didn’t realize the double meaning nor did I personally name the project, but I think we can all have a good laugh about it!
Picture below is the model from the Yarnspirations pattern and her bag is made with Red Heart Super Saver Stripes in color “Favorite Stripe” whereas my example is using “Retro Stripe” – both are adorable!
