Welcome to the official start of our Third Annual Donut Week! All week we’ll share a fresh donut-themed DIY every day, finishing the celebration with a big National Donut Day giveaway.
To kick things off, we made edible graphic donuts using alphabet sugar sheets we discovered last year. Think of them like printable graphic tees you can eat—fun, colorful, and perfect for parties, coworker birthdays, or National Donut Day. They’re simple enough that kids can help make them.

DIY Graphic Donuts
Total Time: 20 Minutes
Supplies
Frosted donuts, or plain donuts with frosting ready to apply
Alphabet sugar sheets
Damp paper towel or sponge
Directions
If your donuts are not yet frosted:
1. Choose the words or phrases you’d like and carefully remove the letters from the sugar sheets.
2. Frost the donuts, then immediately press the letters onto the wet frosting so they adhere. Allow the frosting to set before serving.
If your donuts are already frosted:
1. Choose the words or phrases and carefully remove the letters from the sheets.
2. Lightly dampen the back of each letter with a wet paper towel or sponge, then press onto the frosting. Let them dry fully. Note: this method can leave some residue on your fingers, so keep a damp towel or wipes handy to avoid smudging the donuts.

I love the idea of creating a themed box with one letter per donut to spell out a message—that’s a sweet way to propose or celebrate any occasion. Big thanks to California Donuts for helping us with custom-colored donuts for this project.
