I asked on Snapchat which practical DIY projects you’ve actually made, and many of your answers were storage-related — great idea! To get started, here’s an easy and fun storage project: DIY BFF ring dishes.
I have so many ring dishes on my dresser and vanity. Do you use them, too? I keep everything in mine — rings, earrings, pins, bobby pins, and hair ties. They’re a simple way to keep small accessories from getting lost, and they’re perfect for gifting. Making matching BFF halves is especially cute and makes a thoughtful present for a friend.

DIY BFF Ring Dishes
Total Time: 1 1/2 Hours (Plus Dry Time)
Supplies
Polymer clay (I used three blocks to make larger dishes and mixed neon pink with white to get a bubblegum shade)
Parchment paper
Rolling pin
Toothpick
X-Acto knife
Letters or letter stamps (optional — I used iron-on letters as a template for painting, but you can freehand the text)
Paint and a thin paintbrush
Sandpaper (optional)
Directions
1. Polymer clay is firm straight from the package. Warm it with your hands, kneading until it’s soft and workable. If you’re blending colors, combine and knead until the colors are evenly mixed.
2. On parchment paper, roll the clay into a circle roughly 1/4″ thick.
3. Use a toothpick to lightly draw a heart shape in the clay.
4. Cut out the heart, then cut a zigzag down the center to create two “broken” halves that fit together.
5. Gently lift and roll the edges upward with your fingers to form a slight rim around each half.
6. If you want letter outlines, press stamps lightly into the clay to create shallow guides for later painting. This step is optional — you can also paint freehand.
7. To encourage a curved, bowl-like shape, roll a small piece of parchment into a roll and tuck it under the edges so the clay sits slightly elevated while baking.
8. Bake according to the polymer clay package instructions. I baked mine for about 10–12 minutes. Allow the pieces to cool completely.
9. Paint letters or designs onto the cooled heart halves and let dry. Apply a second coat if needed.
10. If there are any rough spots on the edges, lightly sand with damp sandpaper for a smooth finish.

These heart-shaped ring dishes make a cute Galentine’s Day gift, but they’re charming any time of year. The project is simple and fun for a craft night — imagine a ring dish-making party with pin trading and snacks. It’s an easy way to create personalized, practical gifts that double as pretty storage for small accessories.
