DIY Firework Sunglasses: How to Make Sparkling Party Shades

DIY Fireworks Glasses

I’ll admit it: fireworks make me a little anxious. They look stunning, but the loud booms make me want to run for cover. Still, these paper firework sunglasses are a different story — they’re playful, photogenic, and totally party-friendly. These lightweight frames are perfect for photo booths, Fourth of July gatherings, and any patriotic-themed shindig. They’re easy to make with a Cricut using the Print Then Cut feature, so you can have them ready just in time for the grill to heat up.

1. Open the project in Cricut Design Space and click “Make It Now.” Use the Print Then Cut option to print the sunglasses design. If it’s your first time, follow the on-screen calibration steps — they’re straightforward.
2. Place the printed sheet on your Cricut cutting mat and follow the prompts to cut the design precisely.
3. On each ear piece, fold back a small tab of about 1/4 inch.
4. Apply glue to each folded tab and adhere the tabs to the outer edges of the firework frames to form the arms of the sunglasses.

If you don’t own a Cricut, you can still make these. Print the design from your computer, then cut the pieces by hand and continue with the remaining steps. Hand cutting takes more time, but it’s a simple workaround that gets the same festive result.
