Block #17:

Ocean Flower Crochet Square

by Fiber Flux

Above you can see the square that Jennifer made, featuring 3 colors. Below is my CAL square, in my 3 colors! (I’m doing a stash buster, so these colors will change throughout the year. This is my second Peacock one as I work through the rainbow! The white and light gray are being carried throughout.)

Details for MooglyCAL2024 Block 17

My Notes: The Ocean Flower Crochet Square is pretty, preppy, and full of possibilities! Four smaller squares are joined into one big square –Β  a little mini-CAL in one block! You can make them all the same, or mix it up – I know the Facebook group will be chock full of gorgeous options and ideas! You can make this square in one long evening or afternoon.

Helpful Links and Tutorials: Magic Circle, Puff Stitch, Standing Double Crochet, Standing Single Crochet,Β and seamless join.

Sizing: This pattern has several border rounds, which is great because it makes it easy to adjust for the size you’ve landed at after the squares! I skipped Border Rnd 2 as my square was coming out a bit big. But everyone’s gauge is different so be sure to measure as you go! Learn how to adjust for size HERE to ensure all your squares are the same size. Remember that the 12β€³ is measured across and up and down – not diagonallyΒ corner to corner.

What I Did:

I used aΒ Susan Bates US-J, 6.0 mm Twist and Lock hook, andΒ Red Heart With Love, and my color scheme was as follows (see pics for more info on placement):

Color A: White
B:
Peacock
C:
Light Gray

This square required a strong blocking. I used the a combination of steaming and the wet blocking method.
