Log Cabin Granny Crochet Blanket Square

Above you can see the square that Lindsey made, featuring 3 colors of Caron One Pound. Below is my CAL square, in my 3 colors of Red Heart With Love! (I’m doing a stash buster, so these colors will change throughout the year. This is my first Navy one as I work through the rainbow! The white and light gray are being carried throughout.)

My Notes: The Log Cabin Granny Crochet Blanket Square keeps you entertained in every round! This square is center out, with color and stitch changes that create a unique look. I followed Lindsey’s color plan, but I’m excited to see how all of yours turn out! The pattern itself is easy to follow – tech edited, tested, and written by a professional tech editor!
Helpful Links and Tutorials: BLO – Back Loop Only, Magic Circle, Third Loop (Back Bar) Crochet, CSDC – Chainless Starting Double Crochet, STSC – Standing Single Crochet, STDC – Standing Double Crochet and seamless join.
Sizing: To get the size just right, I worked the very last round as single crochet rather than half double crochet. But everyone’s gauge is different so be sure to measure as you go! Learn how to adjust for size HERE to ensure all your squares are the same size. Remember that the 12″ is measured across and up and down – not diagonally corner to corner.
What I Did:
I used a Susan Bates US-J, 6.0 mm Twist and Lock hook, and Red Heart With Love, and my color scheme was as follows (see pics for more info on placement):
A: Navy
B: White
C: Light Gray
This square required a mild blocking. I used the wet blocking method.
