I was so excited when these came out, that I immediately ordered the whole set! For this project, I used the White 9″ version. While I didn’t crochet it in, I was able to use a large yarn needle and the Bernat Blanket to attach it – the woven channel makes it so easy to keep a nice straight line too!

Have a Whale of Time Making this Pouch

Make a big splash with this adorable Blue Whale Zipper Pouch! Bernat Blanket yarn, worked with an 8mm crochet hook, should create a fabric tight enough to have a bit of stiffness and keep its shape. If you have a looser gauge, going down to a 7mm hook should work! And it’s machine washable, for those inevitable messes.

I based the Blue Whale Zipper Pouch on a small amigurumi pattern I’ve used for in-person classes to teach amigurumi. I would love to see someone make it in giant Bernat Blanket Big for an even larger whale – using the 22″ Yarn Zip! The version shown here is perfect for school and office supplies, and anything else about that size. It would be super cute in a bedroom, bathroom, classroom, nursery – you name it!

Why the crown? Why not?! It’s optional – leave it off if you don’t like it, but I think it adds a fun touch. Now let’s dive into the details!
