Christmas Ornament Donut Holes: Festive DIY Holiday Treats

It’s the final countdown — who’s ready for Christmas? I’m not quite there yet, but these easy edible ornaments are a quick way to add festive fun to your holiday table. These ornament donut holes are made from store-bought donut holes, sparkling sanding sugar, and a tiny tootsie-roll topper. They’re simple, fast, and playful—no baking required.

Supplies:

Plain donut holes
Simple glaze (mix 1 cup powdered sugar with about 2 tbsp milk until smooth; add more milk a little at a time if needed to reach a thin dipping consistency — this amount covers roughly 1½–2 dozen donut holes depending on size)
Sanding sugar in assorted colors for the ornaments, plus gold or silver sanding sugar for the toppers
Tootsie Rolls
White chocolate, melted

Instructions:

1. Dip: Use a fork to roll a donut hole into the glaze until it’s fully coated.

2. Coat: Lift the donut hole on the fork, let excess glaze drip off, then roll it in the sanding sugar until evenly covered. Set each finished donut on wax paper to dry.

3. Make toppers: Cut Tootsie Rolls in half. Dip the cut side and top into the glaze (no need to coat the bottom), then roll in gold or silver sanding sugar to resemble the metal cap of an ornament.

4. Attach toppers: Using a toothpick, place a small dab of melted white chocolate on the bottom of the Tootsie Roll cap. Gently push aside a small patch of sanding sugar on the donut hole and press the topper in place. Allow the chocolate to set completely before handling to avoid messy fingers and to make sure the toppers adhere.
