Squeeze the Day with these Juicy Free Crochet Patterns!
The Crochet Pineapple, Lemon and Lime are made extra soft and cuddly in Bernat Blanket yarn. Using an 8mm crochet hook should create a fabric tight enough to hide any stuffing, but you do want to stuff it lightly – just enough to be huggable and hold it’s shape. If you have a looser gauge, going down to a 7mm hook should do the trick! And it’s machine washable, in case of extra sticky hugs – just make sure you get a washable fiberfill too.
The faces on the Crochet Fruit Squish Set are, of course, optional – if you’ve got a little one with a play kitchen, these are the perfect addition! But please remember that safety eyes are generally only considered safe for ages 3 and up. So if you are crocheting for a little one, embroidered-on eyes may be the better option!

200 yds Bernat Blanket (6 – Super Bulky; 100% polyester; 300g/10.5 oz, 201 m/220 yds)

Fiberfill or softie stuffing
Gauge: 8 hhdc = 4” [10cm]
Sizes:
Pineapple – approx 9.5′ tall x 6.5″ wide
Lemon and Lime – each approx 3.5″ tall x 4.5″ long

Hhdc – Herringbone Half Double Crochet
Special Stitches:
Hhdc = Herringbone Half Double Crochet – Yoh and draw up a loop through the indicated stitch and the first loop on the hook. Yoh and draw through 2 loops on hook.
Hhdc2tog = (Yoh and draw up a loop through the next st and the first loop on the hook) twice. Yoh and pull through 3 loops on hook.
Crochet Fruit Squish Set Instructions
Pineapple:
Base of Pineapple:
1st rnd: Use Color A. Make a magic circle. Ch 1. 10 hdc in the ring. Join with a sl st. Break Color A. 10 hdc.
2nd rnd: Join to and st with Color B. Ch 1. (Sc, fpdc) in the same st as join. (Sc, fpdc) in each rem st around. Join. 20 sts.
3rd rnd: Ch 1. *Hhdc in next st. 2 hhdc in next st. Rep from * around. Join. 30 hhdc.
4th rnd: Ch 1. *Hhdc in next 5 sts. 2 hhdc in next st. Rep from * around. Join. 35 hhdc.
5th rnd – 14th rnd: Ch 1. Hhdc in each st around. Join. Do not break yarn.
Add Face:
Add safety eyes opposite the joining seam, around the 11th and 12th rnds, approx 4 sts apart.
Use Color A to sew a mouth beneath the eyes, around the 9th round.
Continue with Base of Pineapple:
15th rnd: Ch 1. *Hhdc in next 5 sts. Hhdc2tog. Rep from * around. Join. 30 sts.
16th rnd: Ch 1. *Hhdc in next st. Hhdc2tog. Rep from * around. Join. 20 sts.
Stuff the Base:
Add Fiberfill to fill the Base of the Pineapple.
Finish Base of Pineapple:
17th rnd: Ch 1. Hhdc2tog around. Join. Break Color B. 10 sts.
Top of Pineapple:
1st rnd: With Color C, join to first st of last rnd of Base. *Ch 6. Skip the ch closest to the hook. Sl st in the next ch. Sc in the next ch. Hdc in the next 3 chs. Sl st in the next st of last rnd of Base. Rep from * around ending with a sl st in the first st. 10 leaves made.
2nd rnd: *Ch 8. Skip the ch closest to the hook. Sl st in the next ch. Sc in the next ch. Hdc in the next 5 chs. Skip 2 leaves. Sl st in the next sl st. Rep from * around ending with a sl st in the last st of 1st rnd. 5 leaves made.
3rd rnd: *Ch 10. Skip the ch closest to the hook. Sl st in the next ch. Sc in the next ch. Hdc in the next 7 chs.** Skip 2 leaves. Sl st in the next sl st. [Rep from * to **. Skip 1 leaf. Sl st in the next sl st] twice, ending with sl st in the first st of 2nd rnd. Break yarn leaving a 12” end. Use this end to sew last 3 sts closed. 3 leaves made.
Lime Instructions:
1st rnd: Use Color A. Make a magic circle. Ch 1. 6 sc in the ring. Join with a sl st. Break Color A. 6 sc.
2nd rnd: With Color C, join to any st of 1st rnd. Ch 1. *Sc in next st. 2 sc in next st. Rep from * around. Join with sl st. 9 sc.
3rd rnd: Ch 1. 2 sc in each st around. Join. 18 sc.
4th rnd – 9th rnd: Ch 1. Sc in each st around. Join.
Add Face and Stuffing:
Add safety eyes opposite the joining seam, around the 4th / 5th and 8th / 9th rnds.
Use Color A to sew a mouth beneath the eyes.
Add Fiberfill to fill the Lime.
Finish the Lime:
10th rnd: Ch 1. Sc2tog around. Join. Add any remaining stuffing. 9 sts.
11th rnd: Ch 1. *Sc in the next st. Sc2tog. Rep from * around. Break yarn leaving a 12” end. Use this end to sew last 6 sts closed. 6 sts.
Lemon Instructions:
Rep as for Lime, using Color B in place of Color C, and orienting the face in the opposite direction, as shown.
