Crochet this Crescent Shaped Shawl Today – Awakening – Expression Fiber Arts | A Positive Twist on Yarn

Hello, my sweet buttercup! This week, I have two special delights to share with you. My first treat is a brand new, crescent shaped, crochet shawl that I think you’re going to love! Awakening is a lovely design, and I hope you’ll read on to learn more about it, as well as my second bit of news!

Crochet this Crescent Shaped Shawl Today – Awakening – Expression Fiber Arts | A Positive Twist on Yarn

Awakening was designed by Jane Vanselous. When asked about her inspiration for this pattern, she said, “One of my favorite times of the year is in early Spring when the sun is shining in a clear, blue sky, and I notice the flowers beginning to awaken. Those days are a reminder of the continuous opportunities to change our path and grow into a better version of ourselves. Wishing to evoke that same hopeful sense of renewal, I chose lacy crochet stitches that are worked in bright colors for this shawl. Choose any colors that bring you joy! The crescent shape begins in the center and radiates outward in bands of floral stitch patterns. Options are given for alternative uses of colors.”

This is an Intermediate level pattern and is for those who feel comfortable with crocheting and have made a few projects, using various skills and techniques. Skills/concepts include special stitches, color changes, blocking, and optional charts.

For my second treat, I’ve brought back our crazy popular  Bamboo Alpaca Fingering yarn for a limited time. Bamboo Alpaca Fingering is a fantastic choice for this breathtaking shawl. This yarn is a soft and silky blend of 80% bamboo and 20% alpaca. With drape galore and a subtle sheen, this yarn is perfect for professional looking projects! An amazing option for all seasons, even warmer weather! Use Bamboo Alpaca Fingering for shawls and wraps, garments, hats, mittens, blankets, and more! (384 yds/351 m per 3.5 oz/100 g skein).

The sample shown here was made with colors: A) Easy Living, B) Sea Meditation, C) Cocoa Beach, D) Panoramic Peace, and E) Bay Beach and used approximately 1,315 yds/1,203 m total (Color A: 180 yds/165 m, Color B: 355 yds/325 m, Color C: 195 yds/178 m, Color D: 215 yds/197 m, and Color E: 370 yds/338 m).

Bamboo Alpaca Fingering is a Limited Edition yarn, so be sure to order all you need for your project. Once these colors are gone, they’re gone for good.

We made a video tutorial showing how to crochet the buds, puffs, and puff bouquet stitches featured in this pattern. Take a look!

This pattern includes written and charted instructions, as well as schematics.
