Crochet this French Lavender Inspired Shawl Today – Lavande Papillon – Expression Fiber Arts | A Positive Twist on Yarn

Hello, my sparkling sunbeam! This week, I have a beautiful, challenging, but fun, crochet shawl pattern called Lavande Papillon to share with you. I’m so excited to tell you all about it because I think you’re going to LOVE it!

Crochet this French Lavender Inspired Shawl Today – Lavande Papillon – Expression Fiber Arts | A Positive Twist on Yarn

Lavande Papillon was designed by Wardah Mdh. When asked about her pattern, she said, “I’ve chosen a French name ‘Lavande Papillon’ for this pattern. It is a species of flowering plant that is also called French Lavender, and it is an evergreen shrub. Depending on the climate in which it grows, this flower blooms in spring and early summer, starting in the month of March in its native habitat. It reminds me of the beautiful weather on a sunny day, as I walk through a field of violet lavender flowers and dive into their comforting scent. I hope that when you make this shawl you are comforted and are able to delight in the beauty that surrounds you.”

This Advanced level pattern is for the adventurous crocheter who loves to tackle something a bit more complicated. Skills/concepts include special stitches, seaming, blocking, and borders.

Lavande Papillon was crocheted with our sumptuous Pearlescent Fingering yarn, which is a 50:50 blend of Superwash Merino Wool and Mulberry Silk. Smooth with a gorgeous gleam! When you combine these fibers into a single-ply yarn, you get subtle differences in tone, as the wool and silk take the dye differently. It’s a dreamy, fingering-weight yarn that’s ideal for next-to-skin accessories like cowls, shawls, scarves, hats, and more! Unbelievably soft with a lovely drape and a shine that just won’t quit and 550 yds/503 m per skein.

The sample shown here was made with our Iridescent Hues Pearlescent Fingering Kit [550 yds/503 m per skein (3300 yds/3018 m per six-skein kit)]. We used approximately 1466 yds/1341 m total: Color A: 180 yds/165 m, Color B: 205 yds/187 m, Color C: 205 yds/187 m, Color D: 265 yds/242 m, Color E: 265 yds/242 m, and Color F: 346 yds/316 m.

We made a video tutorial for you! Follow along as I demonstrate how to work all the special stitches showcased in this pattern, including the beautiful butterfly stitches.
