DIY Sequin Easter Eggs: Step-by-Step Guide to Sparkling Decor

As promised, my first Easter DIY of the season is here — and it’s delightfully sparkly. Lately I’ve been obsessed with gold sequins, so I decided to decorate Easter eggs with sequin trim. These aren’t your traditional painted eggs, but they’re perfect for anyone who prefers a modern, glamorous take on Easter décor. Spell a word, form a heart, or cover the whole egg in sequins for a bold statement. Ready to make some shine?

Supplies:
– Jumbo eggs, hard-boiled (or blown-out if you prefer keepsakes)
– Sequin trim in your chosen color
– Hot glue gun (low-temp for safety around kids)
– Pencil

Step-by-step: Lightly sketch the letter, heart, or shape you want on the egg with a pencil. Work in small sections: run a thin bead of hot glue over the pencil line and quickly press the sequin trim onto the glue. Because hot glue sets fast, it helps to work steadily and focus on short stretches at a time.

Continue applying the trim until the entire letter or shape is defined. Trim away any excess thread or sequins for a clean edge. If you need to correct a spot, carefully glue individual sequins into place — you can pull them from the strand of trim as needed.

Fully covered sequin eggs: To cover an entire egg, start at the top and glue the sequin trim in a spiral, working round and round toward the bottom. Keep the rows snug so the egg surface is completely concealed and the sequins overlap slightly for even coverage.
