Happy Monday and welcome to a fun giveaway! I’m excited to share a collaboration with The Flair Exchange featuring their charming tassel garland kits. A few months ago Carmen reached out and asked if I’d design a color palette for a fall kit — I jumped at the chance. Even better: I’m giving away two of these tassel garland kits to one lucky reader. I turned my garlands into a giant birthday number for this project, but the possibilities are endless. Scroll through for photos and instructions, and be sure to enter the giveaway at the bottom of the post.

I don’t stick strictly to traditional fall colors, so I combined classic autumn shades like bright red-orange and copper with unexpected pops of navy and bubblegum pink. Carmen assembled the palette and pre-cut and pre-fringed the tissue before packaging it in this neat kit. That’s my favorite part — no tedious cutting. Each kit contains pre-fringed tissue for 16 tassels (about 6 feet of garland), twine, and a simple tool for folding and twisting the tassels. Inside you’ll find step-by-step written and photo instructions. It doesn’t get much easier than that. Below is a quick look at turning a garland into a large number.

Supplies:
Tassel Garland Kit (I used two kits for my #7. Depending on your number and size, 2–3 kits may be needed.)
Tape or Command Hooks

1. Unfold one sheet of pre-fringed tissue and lay it flat.

2. Roll the tissue into a tube so it has fringe at both ends. Fold and twist according to the kit instructions using the included tool.

3. Repeat for each sheet, then string all tassels onto the twine to complete your garland.

They look beautiful once strung together.

To shape the garland into a number, sketch a rough outline on paper first so you can plan where to tape or place hooks. Horizontal sections require more tassels than diagonal, curved, or vertical sections. For my number seven, I began in the upper left corner and taped the end of the twine, then stretched it straight across to form the top. Space the tassels evenly.

Next I used a second garland, anchoring the top of the twine slightly beneath the last tassel and pulling it taut on a diagonal, then taping the bottom end. Trim excess twine. When the twine is pulled tight, the tassels generally stay in place on diagonal lines, but you can secure them with small pieces of tape where needed.

Now you’re ready to celebrate. These garlands are versatile — they can become numbers, letters, a name, or a festive message like “2024” for New Year’s. I’m thrilled with the palette I designed, but The Flair Exchange offers many combinations to explore.
