Hello, my treasure! Today, I have a fabulous, richly cabled, knitted shawl pattern that will wrap you in an elegant embrace! Keep reading to learn all about it!
Vineyard was designed by Donielle Oliver Showvay. When asked about her debut pattern, Donielle said, “The Vineyard shawl was inspired by memories of a hot air balloon ride I enjoyed with my grandparents many years ago while living in California. I’ll always remember the beauty of that day, as we peacefully floated above rows upon rows of intertwining grape vines scattered across the valleys and hills. Rows of cables with wrapped stitches are balanced with panels of half linen stitch across the entire shawl.”
This Intermediate to Advanced level pattern is ideal for the adventurous knitter who loves to tackle something a bit more complicated. Skills/concepts include reading charts, knitting cables, wrapping stitches, and slipping stitches.
Vineyard is made with our beautifully shimmering, soft Beacon DK yarn, which is a delicious blend of 25% Baby Camel, 25% Mulberry Silk, and 50% Lyocell. This silky, luxurious yarn produces beautiful stitch definition and wonderful drape. It’s an 8-ply yarn (four sets of two plies) with ultra shine and longevity. Sure to be a favorite for all of your heirloom items with 250 yds/228 m per skein.
The sample shown here was knitted with our luscious Forest Canopy Hues Beacon DK Kit [250 yds/228 m per skein (1250 yds/1140 m per kit)]. The colors in the sample were worked from lightest to darkest.
The sample shown used approximately 1250 yds/1143 m total: Color A: 250 yds/229 m, Color B: 250 yds/229 m, Color C: 250 yds/229 m, Color D: 250 yds/229 m, and Color E: 250 yds/229 m.
We made a video tutorial showing how to work the cables featured in this pattern. Take a look!
The pattern includes written and charted instructions, as well as a schematic.
