Making It Mini
The Mini Turkey Squish is a much smaller version of the Turkey Squish, made with Bernat Blanket! It’s a big 10″ ball of fun! Here’s a look at the big version:
For this Mini Turkey Squish, I used Bernat Maker Minis, for a pal that’s about 4-5″ across/tall! Bernat Maker Minis take your Amigurumi – and other colorful creations – to the next level! Each package included 10 fab colors, and this yarn is a joy to use, with fantastic stitch definition. Click here to enter and win your own Bernat Maker Minis package on Moogly! (Giveaway ends November 19, 2024.)
I did have to make a few adjustments to the original Turkey Squish to mark this Mini version – and I was able to keep it to one ball of each color – leaving lots for other colorful projects! (Except for the Brown – we’ll use just about all of that one!)
Cute and Cuddly for Kids and Adults
This small crochet turkey pillow is fun to make – and pet and squeeze! I used safety eyes, but this pattern has not been “tested for safety for children under 3 years of age.” If you are crocheting it for a baby or toddler, you may wish to embroider on the features and make sure that the pieces are sewn on quite securely – especially the tail feathers! If using it as a photo prop, be sure not to leave the toy with a baby unattended.

MINI TURKEY SQUISH ASSEMBLY:
1. Add the Safety Eyes to the Top Half of the Body centered between the wings, opposite Rnd 10, as shown.
2. Sew the Feet to the Bottom Half of the Body, leaving the toes loose. Be sure to position them facing away from Rnd 9. Flip one over so that they are mirrored.
3. Sew the small end of the Wattle to the last round of the Bottom Half of the Body, slightly to the right of center, in the front of the feet, as shown.
4. Sew the Tail Feathers to the Top Half of the Body, right above the last round. Be sure to position opposite the eyes, centered between the wings. Sew color B feather straight up in center, sew color C feathers along either side of B feather, and then sew color D feathers straight out along side, as shown below.
5. Use the long tail on the Top Half of Body to whip stitch the Top and Bottom together JUST OVER HALF WAY around. Be sure to match up the wings, and wattle the eyes and feet in the same direction. Stop just a few stitches past the second safety eye, and pin this sewing end out of the way.
6. Sew the Beak to the front, between the eyes, at the top of the Wattle.
7. Fill with fiber fill. Finish using the long tail on the Top Half of Body to whip stitch the Top and Bottom together.
