Fairy Wings Square

The Details
My Notes: Polly Plum is one of my favorite squares designers, and this pattern is another beautifully written example! Yes, there are lots of wonderful special stitches – but she’s also including a video tutorial. That said, the instructions are very well written, and include instructions so you change colors in almost every row.
Helpful Links and Tutorials: Magic Circle, Chainless Starting Double Crochet, Picot, Popcorn, Extended Double Crochet, Post Stitches, Standing Single Crochet, Standing Double Crochet, 3rd Loop in Hdc, and Seamless Finishing.
Sizing: My square came out to the right size as written. But everyone’s gauge is different so be sure to measure as you go! Learn how to adjust for size HERE to make sure all your squares are the same size. Remember that the 12″ is measured across and up and down – not diagonally corner to corner.
What I Did: I used a Susan Bates US-J, 6.0 mm Twist and Lock hook, and Red Heart With Love, and my color scheme was as follows (see pics for more info on placement):
Rnd 1: Light Gray
Rnds 2 – 6: White
Rnd 7: Light Gray
Rnd 8: Pewter
Rnd 9: Light Gray
Rnd 10: Pewter
Rnds 11 – 13: White
This square required mild blocking. I used the wet blocking method, or you could use light steam.
