Block #22:
Just Breathe Square
by Best Crochet Life
Above you can see the square that Pam made in 6 colors. Below is my CAL square, in my 3 colors of Red Heart With Love! (I’m doing a stash buster, so these colors will change throughout the year. This is my first Boysenberry one as I finish up the rainbow! The white and light gray are being carried throughout.)

My Notes: The Just Breathe Square features lots of fun and interesting stitches – and wow does that center pop! Pam has created a pattern that may challenge you, but will also supports you along the way, with lots of helpful full-color close-up photos. Take your time with this one, it’s worth it!
Helpful Links and Tutorials: Magic Circle, STDC – Standing Double Crochet, CSDC – Chainless Starting Double Crochet, Standing Single Crochet, Post Stitches, Standing Post Stitches, BLO, Crossed Stitches, and seamless join.
Sizing: To get the size just right, I worked the last two rounds as BLO sc. But everyone’s gauge is different so be sure to measure as you go! Learn how to adjust for size HERE to ensure all your squares are the same size. Remember that the 12″ is measured across and up and down – not diagonally corner to corner.
What I Did:
I used a Susan Bates US-J, 6.0 mm Twist and Lock hook, and Red Heart With Love, and my color scheme was as follows (see pics for more info on placement):
Rnd 1: Boysenberry
Rnd 2: White
Rnd 3: Light Gray
Rnds 4 and 5: Boysenberry
Rnds 6 and 7: Light Gray
Rnds 8 – 11: White
Rnd 12: Light Gray
Rnd 13: Boysenberry
Rnd 14: White
This square required a moderate blocking. I used the wet blocking method.
