Hello, my lil’ daffodil! I’m super excited to announce our 2025 Spring Crochet and Read Along! We’ll join together on Ravelry to crochet some gorgeous, cozy blankets, like this week’s Cuddy pattern, while each participant also reads a book of their choice. Plus, did I mention that there will be a prize at the end? I hope you’ll keep reading to learn how you can sign up and join in on all of the fun!
This week’s crochet pattern is Cuddy, which was designed by Janica York Carter. When asked about this pattern, Janica said, “Curling up with a good book is one of my greatest pleasures. A comfy reading chair is even better with a lap blanket that could also wrap around my shoulders if there’s a chill in the air. Cuddy’s simple mosaic motif forms rectangles, triangles, and diamonds depending upon color placement. I used six colors from light to dark to explore differences in contrast. Full written instructions also include charts.”
This is an Adventurous Beginner level design and is for crocheters who are ready to learn some new skills or stitch combinations. This pattern uses basic mosaic crochet techniques, such as working into front loops of stitches on previous rows.
To crochet Cuddy, you will need two to six colors of our brand new, Limited Edition Luminous Tweed Fingering yarn. Inspired by enchanting, literary adventures, this unique yarn encourages you to sink into your own delightfully magical crafting journey. Supple, draping, super soft, and pillowy, this fingering-weight yarn features silk neps that vary in color from skein to skein. It’s a super fun yarn that is the perfect blend of luxury and coziness and is unlike any tweed yarn you’ve ever seen! Use this dreamy yarn for heavenly shawls, sweaters, tops, hats, mittens, blankets, and more! Luminous Tweed Fingering is made of 45% Baby Alpaca, 45% Merino Wool, and 10% Mulberry Silk and has 402 yds/367 m per skein.
For Version 1, we used one skein each of six colors: A) Storyweaver, B) Legend, C) Binding Legacy, D) Firelight Fable, E) Chronicle, and F) Flicker. This multicolor sample shawl used approximately 1,520 yds / 1,390 m in total: Color A) 233 yds / 213 m, Color B) 326 yds / 298 m, Color C) 201 yds / 184 m, Color D) 213 yds / 195 m, Color E) 310 yds / 283.5 m, and Color F) 237 yds / 216.5 m.
For Version 2, we used three skeins each of two colors: A) Starlight Saga and B) Storyweaver. This two-color sample shawl used approximately 2,036 yds / 1,862 m in total: Color A) 1,042 yds / 953 m and Color B) 994 yds / 909 m.
Be sure to order all the yarn you need for your project because once these Limited Edition colors are gone, they are gone for good!
