How to Make Giant Shamrock Streamers for St. Patrick’s Day Decorations

So February slipped away and suddenly it’s March — which means St. Patrick’s Day is almost here. Time to get busy! If these shamrock streamers look familiar, that’s because I originally shared them years ago and they were recently featured in Martha Stewart Living’s March issue. To celebrate that fun feature, I decided to make a jumbo version. Bigger felt right, didn’t it? Below you’ll find an easy, SEO-friendly guide to making giant crepe-paper shamrock streamers.

Step 1: Make a shamrock template. If you don’t want to draw one freehand, you can enlarge an existing template and print it. Step 2: Cut long lengths of crepe paper — about 3 to 5 feet — depending on how long you want the streamers to hang. For my giant version, each shamrock was roughly 6 inches tall. Step 3: Fold each length in an accordion style, with the folds slightly narrower than the template. Place the template on the folded paper, trace the shape, and cut around it. Leave the very tips of the clover connected on each side so the pieces stay attached.

Unfold the cut pieces and voilà — oversized shamrock streamers ready to hang. They look great in doorways, along mantels, or strung across windows.
