Autumn Wedding Invitation Ideas with Free Printable Envelope Liner

As the season shifts, I’m excited to share a beautiful fall wedding that embraces greenery over the usual orange and red palette. Last weekend Lauren and Mike celebrated their wedding in Chicago, and the event was a lovely example of understated, botanical elegance. From the stationery to the table decor, the design focused on magnolia and olive leaves with subtle black and white accents and just a few floral highlights like dahlias and garden roses.

The overall aesthetic was clean and cohesive. Long garlands ran down the reception tables, copper tassels framed the ceremony space, and the foliage-driven details created a warm, organic atmosphere. When Lauren asked for invitation ideas, I was thrilled to pair her with Minted and collaborate with Kate from Striped Cat Studio to design a custom envelope liner. The liner picks up the same magnolia and olive motifs and matches the Minted green used across the invitation suite.

The pattern prints on a full 8.5×11″ sheet so you can trim it to fit your envelope. I recommend tracing your envelope onto scrap paper and trimming 1/4″–1/2″ from each side and the top to create a template for the liner.

The invitation Lauren selected—Simple and modern—was the perfect complement to her clean, nature-forward vision. Minted allowed custom color selection, so she chose a green that coordinated with the foliage. After she chose the invitation and color, I sent Kate photos of the leaves and she matched both the color and the botanical shapes for a seamless liner design. Envelope liners are one of those small details that elevate the whole suite: they’re not always the first thing guests notice, but they often leave a lasting impression.

For guest response, Lauren opted for a postcard-style RSVP. On the back she included space for a short note from each guest; my contribution was a dancing emoji sticker—a tiny, lighthearted touch that felt perfectly in keeping with the casual, joyful tone of the weekend.

There’s one more standout detail from Lauren and Mike’s wedding that I’ll share soon—a reception-table element that Minted helped bring to life and that ties into the botanical theme. It’s an eye-catching piece made from lush garlands and simple materials that reads elegant and effortless together. Stay tuned for that reveal.
