I mentioned on a previous post that I had a pile of leftover bows from a recent project. Today I’m sharing a simple, budget-friendly craft: a DIY Christmas bow backdrop. This quick project uses inexpensive stick-on gift bows and poster board to create a festive backdrop perfect for holiday photos, thank you cards, or a dessert table display. You can make a large version for a photo booth or a smaller panel to sit behind treats — both look great and take very little time.

Supply List:
- Plenty of stick-on gift bows (you can often find bags of 20+ at dollar stores)
- Poster board (an affordable alternative to foam core)
- Command strips or similar removable wall-hanging strips
How to make it:
This is one of the easiest DIYs around. Peel the backing off a bow and press it firmly onto the poster board, starting in one corner. Continue placing bows in rows until the entire board is covered. Be sure to press each bow firmly so they stay in place — a good squeeze ensures they won’t peel off later.

Hanging the backdrop:
Because poster board is lightweight and not freestanding like foam core, use Command strips or another removable mounting method to hang the board. Attach two strips to the back of the board and two to the wall, then press the board into place. This keeps the backdrop secure without damaging walls.

That’s it — a two-step DIY that makes a big visual impact. Use a large board to create a photo booth backdrop for gatherings, or make smaller panels to position behind desserts or gift displays. You can mix bow colors and sizes for different effects, or keep a single color scheme for a cleaner look.

Make it oversized for group photos or scale it down for a subtle, festive accent. Either way, this project is fast, affordable, and delightful.
