Today we’re heading on a safari, inspired by Dawn of Not Just A Mommy, who planned a playful, DIY jungle-themed baby shower for her sister-in-law. With animal prints, faux jungle creatures and kraft paper accents, a local gym was transformed into an African safari where guests enjoyed themed games, gifts and treats that perfectly matched the motif.

Each guest received a wooden berry box—sourced from Garnish—filled with materials for the day’s activities and a charming candy banana favor made by Dawn. They were adorable and fit the theme perfectly. To keep the kids entertained, Dawn prepared additional boxes with shortbread letter cookies so the children could play a few rounds of “Unscramble the Words.”

Creativity was part of the celebration for everyone. Guests were invited to decorate a onesie using fabric pieces that Dawn pre-lined with fusible interfacing. Cookie cutters doubled as stencils for simple shapes; once the fabric pieces were cut, they were ironed onto onesies to create unique, practical keepsakes for the new baby.

The dessert table was a highlight: a jungle-themed milk and cookies bar featured flavored milks and an assortment of safari-style cookies. Cupcakes were topped with mini cookies decorated in animal prints, tying the whole spread together. Custom labels created by Paper & Pigtails added a polished touch to each treat.

A matching safari-themed nursery is planned for the baby. Judging by the party’s thoughtful design and cozy vibe, it’s easy to imagine a warm, whimsical nursery that continues the jungle theme.
