Master Bedroom Plans, Progress, and Design Inspiration from The Mindwelling

Time for some master bedroom inspiration from The Mindwelling. We actually finished the closet before completing the bedroom (priorities, right?), but we’re now wrapping up the bedroom and I’m thrilled with how it’s coming together. I wanted to share our inspiration, progress, and plans since the space isn’t finished yet—and I could use your help with a few final decisions.

For this room we partnered with Allswell, a newer bedding brand that offers both mattresses and linens. Their one-stop approach is exactly my style, so we picked up their mattress and some bedding. The brand feels thoughtfully designed from packaging to product choices, and they even remove your old mattress when they deliver. Their collection offers options that match many aesthetics and makes the process effortless.

The mattress is available in two main feels: a softer option and a firmer option. We chose the firmer model, which combines memory foam with coils and includes a cooling top layer to help with breathability. Overall it’s been really comfortable—we’re sleeping well—although my brain sometimes races about the blank walls and styling details.

Now about the room: we haven’t put anything on the walls yet. Our bed has a strong, structured silhouette, so we planned the rest of the room to feel soft and layered in contrast. The design direction includes a layered rug arrangement, rattan accents, and several dusty-pink touches against a bright white base to keep the space airy and calming.

A white dresser with pink decor

Here’s one of our current dilemmas: the dresser I love was intended for the wall opposite the bed with a TV above it, but I mis-measured and it’s slightly too wide. For now it sits on a different wall where I had planned built-in shelving. The original wall will still get the TV and likely a gallery wall to help it blend, but this dresser wall needs a creative solution.

I’m considering a few options: asymmetrical or sculptural shelving above the dresser, one large statement artwork, or a large rattan wall piece to echo other textures in the room. I’m leaning toward shelving because it adds function and visual interest, but I’d love input on what would make the space feel balanced and finished.

We’re close to finishing—just need to solve the wall arrangement and the room should come together beautifully. I’ll share the final reveal soon. Please leave your thoughts on the dresser wall idea below if you have suggestions, and if you’re shopping for a new mattress or bedding, consider checking Allswell as an easy starting point. Thanks for following along—more updates soon!
