Thought it was high time to share some dining room inspiration! The photo above shows the “before” for reference. If you follow along on Instagram you may have seen a few sneak peeks, but here’s the full update on the pieces we’re considering and the design questions we’re still solving. The room is small, almost a perfect square, but I love how it’s coming together.
First, a bit of inspiration for the space…
Yes, we’re leaning into pink—this is the first of three rooms that are heavily pink—balanced with mint and teal accents, neutrals, and gold hardware. Because of the room’s proportions, a round table felt like the best choice. There isn’t room for a lot of additional furniture, but here’s the plan so far…
I’m absolutely in love with that chandelier and the rug. I bought the rug on an Instagram sale on impulse—gave Jeff about 30 seconds to weigh in (he declined) and then purchased it anyway. Ironically, once it arrived he declared it his favorite house purchase so far. Sometimes you just have to trust your gut!
The main question we’re working through now is what to place on the narrow wall behind the dining table. Because the room is compact, anything there can’t be more than about a foot deep. We’re considering a slim banquet table or a narrow bar cart. If we add a piece, we’ll hang artwork above it, although we won’t finalize art until the furniture is in place.
I also need to pick out pretty hardware for the built-in cabinets. They’re painted white now and add lovely extra storage. I’ve been eyeing a few options but haven’t decided yet.
So that’s where we’re at—we’re nearly finished and just need to solve that wall and finalize a few details. Can’t wait to share the finished room!
