You can’t throw a “No Boys Allowed” party without an over-the-top Boy Tears piñata. This giant soda-can–style piñata, complete with a dramatic pull-tab and a “100% Fresh Squeezed” label, is playful and easy to adapt. You could make it resemble any canned beverage, but this cheeky design fits the theme perfectly.

DIY Boy Tears Piñata
Total Time: 3–4 Hours
Supplies
Two large sheets of cardboard
Pink crepe paper streamers
Silver mylar or metallic paper
Scissors or fringe scissors
White cardstock
Purple cardstock
Aluminum foil
School glue (white glue)
Hot glue and a hot glue gun
Masking tape
Fishing line
Directions
1. Roll one sheet of cardboard into a large tube to form the main body of the can. Secure it with masking tape.
2. Place the tube on the second sheet of cardboard, trace the circle for the bottom, and cut it out. Set this circle aside.
3. On the top edge of the tube, cut 3-inch deep slits spaced evenly around the rim. Fold those tabs inward to recreate the slightly narrower top of a soda can and tape them down.
4. Flip the tube and trace the new, smaller top circle formed by the folded tabs onto cardboard. Cut out that smaller circle.
5. Cover both circles with silver mylar. Lay each cardboard circle on a sheet of mylar and tape the mylar on the back so the front is smooth and metallic. Hot glue the bottom circle to the tube.
6. For hanging, lay a length of fishing line across the top of the piñata before gluing on the top circle. Hot glue the top circle over the line and tie the fishing line ends together to form a sturdy hanging loop inside the piñata.
7. Prepare your fringe by folding several feet of pink streamer over and cutting fringes through many layers at once. This speeds up the process and ensures even fringe rows.
8. Starting at the bottom, glue rows of fringe with school glue. Each row should overlap slightly and sit about 1/2″ from the previous row. Continue working upward until you reach the curved, tapered section near the top.
9. Cut a couple of 2″ wide strips of silver mylar and fringe them the same way. Add these metallic fringes near the top to mimic the can’s rim.
10. Create the pull-tab by cutting a tab shape from cardboard and wrapping it in aluminum foil. Secure it with hot glue at the center of the can’s top.
11. Design and cut a “Boy Tears” label from white or purple cardstock. If you prefer precision, make a paper template first, trace it onto your cardstock, and then cut. Glue the label to the front of the piñata with hot glue.
12. Make a smaller “Fresh Squeezed” sticker the same way and attach it beneath the main label for an extra playful touch.
