Did everyone survive Halloween? What did you or your kids dress up as? While I take a short breather from holiday-themed posts between two of my favorite holidays, I wanted to share a playful vintage car tablescape I created for the Spaceships & Laser Beams Boy Bash on a Budget challenge. Stephanie invited me to design a look using her vintage car party printables on a $20 budget — a fun creative constraint that yielded lots of DIY details. I’ll share the tutorial for the interactive chalkboard runner later, but here’s a peek at the full setup.

My nephew Harris, who knows more about cars than most adults, happily posed for a few shots and lent his charm to the faux party signs and props.

To give the tablescape a retro, car-themed vibe I made oversized dice from paper to mimic the classic fuzzy dice often hung from rearview mirrors. I also fashioned traffic cones using snow cone paper cups and bright orange cardstock for a playful, low-cost accent.

Chocolate donuts doubled as “spare tires” on the table, adding a tasty and themed element. Favor bags at each setting held toy cars for the kids to play with during the party and take home afterward.
