Knitting slip stitches: 4 stitch patterns – The Blog – US/UK

Hello Knitters! Did you know the slip stitch technique? This technique is used a lot in the knitting world to create beautiful effects. You can find this technique in lots of beginner knitting kits because it is so easy.

With this easy technique you can achieve beautiful borders, colorworks and textures. It is quite easy to work with. You just have to pass the stitch from the left hand needle to the right hand needle without working it. There are two things that will determine the result: the way you pass it and where you place the thread.

You can slip it knitwise, as if to knit, or purlwise, as if to purl. To pass it knitwise insert the needle, throw the front as if you were going to knit it and pass it to the needle without working it.  To pass it purlwise insert the needle, throw the back as if you were going to purl it and pass it to the needle without working it.

Always keep in mind where you place the knitting yarn, if it is not specified you have to leave it where it is, if it is, you have to place the thread in front of your work or in the back, where the pattern says, and then return the yarn to the back if you are going to knit or to the front if you are going to purl

To show you this technique we are using these 4 knitting stitch tutorials and we are using our chunky wool for knitting Petite Wool Natural and Digital Lavender and our US size 11 (8mm) knitting needles.
