I’ve put off writing this post so many times because I was completely excited and couldn’t decide what to share. But here it is—Arlo’s nursery inspiration at last.
Next week we’ll publish a full post about the house’s overall color scheme and vibe, but Arlo’s room will be a slightly different direction, so I wanted to share a preview now. Below are the inspiration photos and some of the pieces we’ve chosen for his space.

I’ve been collecting nursery ideas for years. I love a cohesive look, but a fully themed nursery never felt right for me. I prefer a white base with lots of colorful pops, mixed textures, and varied artwork—an eclectic style that still feels cohesive. That’s the approach we’re taking for Arlo’s room.
We started by painting the inside of Arlo’s door a cheerful yellow—Highlighter by Dunn Edwards. We liked the idea of a little secret color that only he (and we) see when walking down the hallway.

Many of you have seen in Instagram stories that I’m working on a large latch-hook rainbow to hang above his crib. I wanted texture above the crib that wasn’t heavy—important because we live in an earthquake area. The piece is coming together beautifully. It took quite a few hours of measuring and planning (and some teased team members), but it’s turning out great. I’ll share a tutorial after the room reveal.

Above is a quick sampling of the core items we’ve selected to show how the room is shaping up.

We wanted Arlo surrounded by handmade items from artisans around the world so he can grow up appreciating different cultures and crafts. Because of his Mexican heritage, we’ve worked to incorporate Mexican-made pieces wherever possible—simple touches like the felt letters and Huichol yarn painting add meaning and connection.

We’re turning the ledge in his room into a colorful gallery ledge filled with pieces that mean something to our family or were made by friends. The gallery wall above is one of my favorites—I’ve used it as inspiration in multiple boards. I especially love the neon frames, and while I haven’t sourced them yet we’ll be integrating neon elements in other ways.
The photo below shows a look I keep returning to: clusters of artwork, garlands, and small objects arranged in an intentionally eclectic way. I love that it feels lived-in rather than perfectly styled. I’ve collected many small treasures to tuck into nooks around the room.

So that’s a peek at baby A’s room. It’s colorful and busy—that’s how I like it. We’re finalizing the rest of the pieces and will install everything in the coming weeks. I can’t wait to share the finished room with you.
