Today’s DIY project is sponsored by Sweet Estelle’s Baking Supply.
I did it — I successfully made my first batch of homemade marshmallows, and they were surprisingly simple. When Jennifer from Sweet Estelle’s Baking Supply invited me to collaborate on a recipe, I knew I wanted something special: confetti marshmallow numbers. These are perfect for birthday toppers, favors, table numbers, and more. Even better, Sweet Estelle’s is giving one lucky reader a $50 gift certificate to their shop so you can try this project yourself (or buy whatever baking goodies you like). Read the tutorial below and then scroll to the giveaway details to enter and find a discount code.

Look at that confetti cake — those jumbo sprinkles steal the show.

Supplies I used:
– One batch homemade marshmallows (I followed a reliable marshmallow recipe and added about 1/3 cup of confetti sprinkles into the batter when I added the vanilla)
– Confetti sprinkles
– Number cookie cutters
– Cutting board
– Parchment paper
Make your marshmallows according to your chosen recipe, folding in sprinkles if you want the confetti effect throughout. After the marshmallows have set, dust the top lightly with powdered sugar as the recipe instructs, then flip the marshmallow sheet out onto a large cutting board or work surface.

To cut shapes, spray the cookie cutter lightly with non-stick cooking spray. Press the cutter firmly into the marshmallow sheet, making sure to cut all the way through. Remove the shaped marshmallow and pop it out of the cutter. Re-spray as needed. A 9×13 pan of marshmallows yielded about a dozen number shapes for me.

To coat the sides without hiding the confetti, I skipped the powdered sugar and used sprinkles instead. Lay your cut marshmallows on a board or parchment and gently press or sprinkle extra confetti onto the exposed sides so the edges are colorful and textured.

Done! These marshmallow numbers are versatile. You can:
– Make a cake topper by pushing a bamboo skewer through the marshmallow and into the cake so it stands upright.
– Package them as party favors using food-safe treat bags or cellophane bags, then seal or tie them closed.
