Sticking with a Palm Springs vibe, we added an easy DIY lawn flamingo costume to the lineup — silver leggings and all. Samantha had the great idea to make the flamingo head a baseball cap, which I love. We also made a mini cactus costume for the little one to complete the duo.
Lawn Flamingo Costume Supplies
- Pink leotard or dress
- Silver leggings
- Pink hat or baseball cap
- Pink, yellow, white and black craft foam
- Hot glue gun
- Safety pin
Step-by-Step Tutorial
- Cut a tail shape from pink craft foam. Make it large enough to sit nicely at the back of the leotard or dress.
- Cut a beak from black foam and a thin yellow strip to add detail. Attach the beak to the brim of the baseball cap with hot glue.
- Cut two white circles and two smaller black circles for the eyes. Glue them to the hat above the beak.
- Wear the silver leggings under the leotard or dress. Fasten the foam tail to the back using a safety pin, then finish the look by wearing the decorated cap.
