My Notes: The Blueberry Pie Granny Square is designed for us by Kim Guzman on Make It Crochet. This is a gorgeous square that looks more complicated than it is. The “pie cuts” in the center features simple stitches with clever construction, with just enough popcorn stitches to mix it up. In order to minimize the ends to weave in, Kim gives the option of pulling up a long loop of the main color along the back. I too hate extra ends, but instead of pulling up a long loop, I added a small section of chains to get me to the indicated stitch – usually just 3 or 4 chains was enough. This really blends in with the other chain spaces that are pushed to the back – easy peasy!

Sizing: My square came out to size as written. But everyone’s gauge is different, so be sure to measure as you go! Learn how to adjust for size HERE to ensure all your squares are the same size. Remember that the 12″ is measured across and up and down, not diagonally/corner to corner.

What I Did:

I used a Susan Bates US-J, 6.0 mm Twist and Lock hook, and Red Heart With Love, and my color scheme was as follows (see pics for more info on placement):

Rnd 1: Boysenberry
Rnd 2:
Cornsilk
Rnds 3 and 4:
Boysenberry
Rnd 5:
Mallard
Rnd 6:
Boysenberry
Rnd 7:
Merlot
Rnd 8:
Boysenberry
Rnd 9:
Merlot
Rnd 10:
Boysenberry
Rnd 11:
Black
Rnd 12:
Mallard
Rnd 13:
Black

This square barely required a mild blocking, so I used the wet blocking method
