Crochet This Beginner Friendly Shawl Today – Cesta! – Expression Fiber Arts | A Positive Twist on Yarn

Hello, precious soul! This week, I have a beginner friendly, crocheted basketweave shawl pattern to share with you. I just love this shimmery, silky design, and I know you will, too! Keep reading to learn all the lovely details!

Crochet This Beginner Friendly Shawl Today – Cesta! – Expression Fiber Arts | A Positive Twist on Yarn

Cesta was designed by Elisabeth Carr. When asked about her pattern, Elisabeth said, “Cesta is an asymmetrical shawl worked in a basketweave pattern. The shawl starts in one corner and works its way out by increasing stitches, creating a lovely texture. The entire pattern is crocheted with simple double crochets, front post double crochets, and back post double crochets, which makes it perfect for a beginner who is looking to master these stitches.”

This is an Adventurous Beginner level pattern that is perfect for crocheters who are ready to learn some new skills or stitch combinations. Stitches include double crochet, front post double crochet, and back post double crochet.

Cesta is crocheted with our divine Allure Fingering yarn. Allure Fingering is an elegant, 100% Mulberry Silk yarn with luscious drape, dreamy softness, and incredible color saturation! This 2-ply yarn has beautiful structure and is long-wearing. A special delight when you’re ready to treat yourself to something sumptuous!

The sample shown here was made with our Fairy Tale Hues Allure Fingering Kit [218 yds/200 m per skein (1308 yds/1200 m per six-skein kit)]. The colors were worked in the following order: A) Gray, B) Purple, C) Blue Green, D) Dark Green, E) Medium Green, and F) Light Green, and the sample shown used approximately 1,200 yds/1,097 m total (200 yds/183 m of each color).

We made a video tutorial for this beautiful pattern! Grab your hook and some yarn, and learn how to crochet this shawl with me!
