Hello, my sweet friend! Today, I have two versions of a flowing crocheted shawl to share with you. I think you’re going to love making this fun design. Read on to learn all about it!
Neptune was designed by Gordana Adamceska-Halson. When asked about her debut pattern for Expression Fiber Arts, Gordana said, “Each wave is an exploration into the unknown world, from darkest point of the unknown to the lightest reflecting discovery. The waves represent the finish line of realization, enlightenment to knowledge or achievement. In short, it represents perseverance in life regardless of the obstacles and pushing forward to the scary and unknown towards self-knowing and success.”
Two versions of the Neptune shawl are shown here. The Sugar Fluff Fingering version is an Adventurous Beginner level pattern and is for crocheters who are ready to learn some new skills or stitch combinations. Stitches include foundation single crochet, half double crochet, double crochet, and triple crochet stitches.
The Buttery Sport version is an Advanced level pattern that is ideal for the adventurous crocheter who loves to tackle something a bit more complicated. Skills/concepts include adapting a pattern with minimal instructions and guidance.
Neptune is crocheted with our incredibly soft Limited Edition Sugar Fluff Fingering yarn, which is very fluffy and absolutely divine! This fun yarn has a lovely drape and a beautiful halo and is ideal for multi-seasonal use and all your treasured items. Sugar Fluff Fingering is made with 80% Suri Alpaca and 20% Acrylic and has 364 yds/333 m per 3.5 oz/100 g skein.
The sample shown here was crocheted with colors: A) Ribbon Candy Dreams, B) Strawberry Drizzle, and C) Lime Sorbet Sugar Fluff Fingering and used approximately 1,486 yds/1,359 m total: Color A: 211 yds/193 m, Color B: 637 yds/583 m, and Color C: 638 yds/583 m. You’ll need one skein of Color A and two skeins EACH of Colors B and C for this version.
Be sure to order all the skeins you need for your project, as these Limited Edition Sugar Fluff Fingering colors won’t return once they’re gone.

An alternative Advanced level version of Neptune was crocheted with our Buttery Sport yarn, which is squishy, bouncy, and buttery! What’s not to love about this super soft, lush, and cuddly sport-weight yarn that’s also machine washable? Made from 100% Superwash Superfine Merino Wool, this two-ply yarn produces fat, full stitches! No itchiness or scratchiness here! Use this fun, boingy yarn to make soft, supple projects that work up quickly. Buttery Sport has 300 yds/274 m per 3.5 oz/100 g skein.
We used our Seagrass Hues Buttery Sport Kit to make the alternative sample shown here, and it used approximately 1,686 yds/1,542 m total: Color A: 216 yds/197 m, Color B: 294 yds/269 m, Color C: 291 yds/266 m, Color D: 291 yds/266 m, Color E: 300 yds/274 m, and Color F: 294 yds/269 m.
Please note that minimal instructions are provided in the pattern to crochet the Advanced version, and no pattern support will be offered for this version.
