First we had the Gingerbread Gift Card Holder, then the Bunny Pockets, and now I present to you these Crochet Owl Pockets!! This adorable owl has a little pouch that is crocheted right into the pattern and is perfect for holding gift cards, money, candy, treats or trinkets, small note pads & pens, business cards, and much more!
If you have a graduate in the house, you could crochet the owl in school colors and put a gift card or money inside. Maybe even crochet a mini graduation cap to go over the owl ear.
Materials:
– Red Heart Super Saver yarn in colors Beige (light brown), Cafe Latte (dark brown, White, and Gold.

– Size H Crochet Hook
– Tapestry Needle
– Two 9mm black safety eyes – SHOP HERE on AMAZON
Crochet Pocket Owl:
Note: pattern works from bottom up and pouch pocket is worked right into the pattern!
starting with beige yarn
Magic Ring, chain 1 and make 8 SC in ring, join, chain 1 (8 SC)
Round 2: 2 SC in each stitch around, join, chain 1 (16 SC)
Round 3: 2 SC in first stitch, SC in next stitch, repeat around, join, chain 1 (24 SC)
Round 4-10: SC in each stitch around, join, (24 SC)
Round 11: Chain 10, skip 10 stitches, join to 11th stitch in round with a SC, SC in remaining 13 stitches in round, join to first chain, chain 1 (the skipped stitches will be your pocket!)
Round 12: SC in each stitch around including each of the 10 chains, join, chain 1 (24 SC)
Round 13: SC Decrease, SC in next 2 stitches, repeat around, join, chain 1 (18 sts)
Round 14: SC Decrease, SC in next stitch, repeat around, join in café latte brown yarn, chain 1 (12 sts) fasten off beige yarn
Round 15: 2 SC in each stitch around, join, chain 1 (24 SC)
Round 16-22: SC in each stitch around, join, chain 1 (24 SC)
Fasten off after round 22 and leave long tail.
We will sew the top close after attaching eyes and nose.
Owl Eyes (make 2):
with white yarn
Magic Ring, chain 1 and make 6 SC in ring, join to first SC, chain 1
Round 2: 2 SC in each stitch around, join, fasten off leaving long tail.
Add safety eye to each crocheted eye.
Stitch onto head of owl so the eyes are slightly overlapping or touching.
Owl Beak:
with gold yarn
Chain 3, SC in second chain from hook, DC in last, fasten off.
Stitch tiny triangle beak onto owl head so it is overlapping the bottom of both eyes.
Now you can close the top of the owl head by whip stitching it closed with your tapestry needle.
Add some fun tassels for the ears! I took 3 strands of yarn (about 8 inches long) and looped it through both ear corners.
Wings (make 2):
with Café Latte Brown yarn
Magic Ring, chain 1 and make 10 SC in ring, join, chain 1
Round 2: 2 SC in each stitch around, join, chain 1 (20 SC)
Round 3: SC in each stitch around, join, fasten off leaving long tail (20 SC)
Fold circle wing in half and stitch onto either side of the owl body where the head touches the body.
Feet/Talons:
Use a long strand of yarn and tapestry needle and loop yarn about 8 times through both bottom corners of owl body to make it look like tiny talons.
Make them in other color combos! Here is my owl assembly line!

I had so much fun at The Crochet Crowd Mystery Event yesterday. It happened to be located on a ranch in Arizona so I was able to drive over for the day! I got to meet so many wonderful crocheters in our community and they helped me pattern test these pocket owls. It was an added bonus to be able to spend time with Mikey from The Crochet Crowd and Tiffany from Daisy Farm Crafts!
