Bernat Blanket Crochet Squish-a-Sauras Dinosaur

The popular Squish-a-Sauras Dinosaur just got a fun upgrade! The original pattern is made with worsted weight yarn but I decided to see if the pattern would work with the soft, squishy, and bulky Bernat Blanket Yarn. And it does! He is now super-sized!

Large and Loveable, this guy stands at 24 inches tall and about 20 inches wide! I used almost two full balls of Bernat Blanket Brights yarn in Go-Go Green but there are soooo many color choices in the Bernat Blanket line. Lots of greens to choose from! Shop them all HERE.

Materials:
– Two 300g balls of Bernat Blanket Yarn in Green for body (I used Bernat Blanket Brights Go-Go Green)
– One ball of Bernat Blanket Yarn in Deep Sea for the spikes.
– One 20oz bag of Poly-fil Fiber Stuffing (I used almost the whole bag!)
– Size K Crochet Hook
– Large Tapestry Needle
– Two black 20mm safety eyes
– Crochet Squish-a-Sauras Pattern

Let’s talk about this pattern! The Squish-a-Sauras is a pattern I designed for my friends at Yarnspirations. It’s a completely free pattern and you can easily download and save the PDF HERE. It quickly became a fan favorite and when O’go yarn was released, it was re-made in O’Go yarn colors and a version 2 of the pattern was posted. Both are the same pattern, just with different yarn color directions.

I followed the pattern exactly as I originally wrote it, but if I were to do it over, I would eliminate a few rounds at the back of the head and on the neck when using the Bernat Blanket Yarn. It was very long and skinny in those parts.

You will want to weave your neck to the head several times to make sure it is secure. These pieces are big and heavy!

How cute is this?!
