Crochet Spinning Top Lapghan
The Crochet Spinning Top Lapghan is an adaptation from my original Peppermint Pinwheel Afghan. It’s been adapted by my friend, Cathy Lund from Paisley Ontario.
The adaptation is based on keeping the pinwheel a solid straight shot out from the center instead of breaking up the pinwheel like my original design. It was trending to use one of the two colours using automatic long variegated yarn like Bernat Pop! and Caron Cakes. The colour that you see transitioning from blues to almond shades is actually Bernat Pop! changing colours on it’s own. Cathy chose the solid colour, Bernat Super Value, Honey, to be the dominant look to separate the others. To her, this reminded her of looking down on top of a spinning top.
You can easily substitute Bernat Pop! to Caron Cakes if you wish. I think both choices would be awesome.
Materials List
- 6.5 mm or K Size Hook
- 2 Balls of Bernat Pop! Foggy Notion & 2 Balls of Bernat Super Value Honey.
- Alternative Options: If substituting for Caron Cakes, use 2 balls of Caron Cakes instead of Bernat Pop! If you want to change the solid to be Bernat Pop! or Caron Cakes, use 2 balls of that as well.

Tutorial
The tutorial is following the exact same count in rows but is not changing positions every 3 round for colour. It’s a straight shot out from the center to create a pinwheel. There is a minor difference in Rounds 29 – 31 of doing a colour switch. Border is round 32.
