These balloons are perfect as Valentines, and they also make an adorable balloon bouquet for a school party. Instead of the usual messages you could write each child’s name on the balloon to personalize them. Now, back to the printables and how to assemble everything.

Supply List:

  • Free Conversation Heart Printable
  • Latex heart-shaped balloons (available at party stores)
  • Red dry-erase marker with a wide or chisel tip (NOT a permanent marker)
  • Baker’s twine or embroidery floss

To make the balloon valentines:

  • Blow up the balloon and temporarily secure it with a piece of twine or another fastener so it stays inflated while you write.
  • Use the dry-erase marker to write short phrases or names on the balloon. Important: write each line once—do not repeatedly trace over letters. A single pass is enough. Thick or layered marker strokes can warp or peel when the balloon is deflated.

When you deflate the balloon the lettering shrinks with it—this creates a charming, miniaturized look perfect for attaching to the printable card.

Next, make two small holes about 1/2″ apart where you want to attach the balloon to the card. Thread baker’s twine or embroidery floss through the holes, position the deflated balloon, and tie a neat bow to secure it. That’s it—your balloon valentine is ready to give.

If you prefer to skip writing on balloons, they’re still delightful left plain—kids and adults alike love receiving a balloon, and it’s a fun, low-sugar alternative to candy.

Bonus Idea 1: Conversation Heart Tic-Tac-Toe

This printable also makes a fun Valentine’s Day party game. Create a tic-tac-toe grid on the printable using washi tape or a marker. Sort candy hearts by color and place them in small glassine or cellophane bags, sealing each bag with washi tape. Hand out a board and a set of hearts to each child, or set up a communal table and let kids pick pieces to play. It’s an easy, festive activity that keeps kids engaged.

Bonus Idea 2: Classic Candy Heart Valentines

If you can’t find balloons or prefer a traditional option, simply fill small bags with candy hearts and attach them to the printable with tape or twine. Quick to assemble and always well-received, these candy heart valentines are a simple, colorful choice.

This printable really multitasks: balloon valentines, party tic-tac-toe, or a candy heart treat. If you can’t decide, combine the ideas—make pastel heart streamers, tie balloons to chairs, play tic-tac-toe, and send guests home with a balloon or candy-heart favor. Happy crafting!
