Office Makeover Ideas from Studio DIY HQ: Stylish Workspace Inspiration

Studio DIY HQ: My Office Makeover Inspiration

We began our studio renovations by tackling the smallest room first: my office. It’s already coming together quickly, and I wanted to share the inspiration and plans before the full reveal. I also need help choosing a light fixture! My friend Cyn has been helping me source and design pieces for this space, and it’s shaping up to be colorful and fun.

This room will serve as both my workspace and a meeting area. Although it’s compact and windowless, we’re embracing lots of color to keep it bright and inviting. We’ve already replaced the floors with a whitewashed vinyl and are ready to take on the walls and storage. Below you’ll find the mood images and a look at where we’re headed.

The dominant color will be pink—specifically a very pale, peachy blush. We’re planning an organic stripe mural across one or two walls to add movement and texture. For the main work surface, we’ll use a large table that doubles as a meeting table, and colorful chairs and wall styling will add personality behind the desk.

The wall behind the desk will become faux built-in storage to conceal utility items and showcase favorite props and art. That wall will be painted to blend with the room, and we’re considering a faux rose quartz countertop on the cabinets for an extra design touch.

Several items have already been ordered and are on their way, and I can’t wait to see how they look, especially the rug.

Colorful office decor

Featured pieces and accents arriving for the room include artwork, a Moroccan lidded basket, rose-colored glasses, a quartz-effect dining table, vibrant art prints, a teal glam chair, a Moroccan rug, risograph prints, a double-rainbow print, a flamingo rattan chair, and a modern console table. These elements will layer texture, pattern, and color for a playful yet cohesive look.

One small wall next to the door will remain an evolving inspiration board. It sits directly in my line of sight, so it will be a daily source of visual ideas as I plan posts and products.

Finally, I’d love your input on lighting. Which would you choose for this space: the pendant lamp or the globe chandelier? We’ll see how each works in the room before deciding, but I’m curious which you prefer.

That’s the plan for now—full reveal coming soon. I’m so excited to watch this room come together and share the finished space.
