Happy weekend, everyone! Are your kids back in school yet? Ours will be soon, and I can’t believe how quickly the summer flew by. We also have a few trips coming up—New York City and Mexico (CDMX and San Miguel de Allende)—and I’m really looking forward to getting a little travel in before fall.
I also wanted to let you know I’ll be taking a short break. Calling it a sabbatical makes it sound more organized than it feels, but I need some time offline to regroup and focus on other priorities. I’m stepping away from social media for a month or two to clear my head and figure out what’s next. This industry has shifted a lot over the past year, as many creators and bloggers have mentioned, and I’m still working out how I want to navigate those changes.
There will still be some posts published on the blog while I’m away, but I won’t be sharing my usual “happy weekend” updates here or posting on Instagram. I’m equal parts excited and nervous about the break, but I’ll check back in when I’m ready. In the meantime, here are a few things I wanted to share before I go—thank you, as always, for your support.
It’s heartbreaking to watch the fires devastating Maui. If you’re looking to donate, one organization I often recommend is World Central Kitchen, which specializes in delivering meals to communities affected by disasters and is currently on the ground in Hawaii.
Jeff has launched a new print shop—so proud of him!
I’ve been eyeing these stepping stones for kids; they’re so clever and I’d love to get a set for A. They’d make a fantastic holiday gift.
LA parents: LA Parks & Recreation has opened several free or low-cost/subsidized preschools across the county, with more coming online. If you know families with children ages 2–6, please share this opportunity.
I can’t help it—I’ll always link to that red striped magical home whenever I see it. It’s endlessly charming.
I’m considering wearing this dress to one of the upcoming weddings—still deciding, but loving the options. If you need more wedding-guest dress ideas, there are lots of great roundups to browse.
Babaa’s summer sale ends Monday—time to stock up for winter or late summer/fall. Their cotton pieces are comfortable year-round, in my experience.
I’m on board with the fresh fabric design trends highlighted recently—contrast piping has been on my mind for our dining nook bench.
Also loving this colorful kids’ play and tumbling mat—so fun and practical for active little ones.
All the French flea market tips are worth bookmarking if you enjoy treasure hunting and vintage finds.
Finally, there’s a powerful reel that outlines how large and diverse the LGBTQ+ community is; it offers important perspective and talking points for defending LGBTQ+ rights. Definitely worth watching and reflecting on.
