Make Your Own Birthday Confetti Popper: Simple Step-by-Step Guide

DIY Birthday Confetti Poppers

June always feels like a major birthday month—so many friends, family, and even me! I’m turning a quarter century this Saturday, and to celebrate I made a playful birthday cake confetti popper with my Cricut Explore. These poppers are filled with sprinkle confetti alongside tiny balloons and cake shapes for a festive surprise. They make charming party favors, and using a cutting machine really simplifies making consistent, polished poppers.

Side note: I love cutting sprinkles with my Cricut—small shapes like these are perfect for the machine and add instant charm to any project.

How to assemble
1. Open the project in your cutting software (Cricut Design Space) and cut the popper wrapper from wrapping paper and the confetti shapes from cardstock. If you want a loud pop, attach a cracker snap along the length of the toilet paper tube using tape.
2. Wrap the cut paper wrapper around the toilet paper roll, aligning the design so the diamond cut-outs sit centered. Secure the wrapper with double stick tape. On one end, gather the wrapper over the tube and tie tightly with a short piece of twine at the center of the diamond shapes to close that end.
3. Fill the tube with confetti and any small treats you like, then tie the remaining end tightly. To launch the confetti, hold both ends firmly and pull or twist quickly—POP!

These poppers work great with sprinkle confetti by itself, but you can also add small candies or tiny treats for a personal touch.
