About this Pattern
If you’re looking for a unique and adorable baby shower gift, this cute little crochet bunny lovey is a great option! It’s made with ultra soft, baby safe yarn that’s easy to launder and care for. Whip one up in a Sunday Funday afternoon.
With this project you’ll get to practice working with a yarn that has no stitch definition, which means you can’t really see the stitches as you work. But don’t let that scare you away. Novelty yarns like this, although challenging to work with, can create a beautifully unique project you otherwise couldn’t create with standard yarn.

FAQ: Can I use a different yarn?
Sure, as long as it’s in the same weight category. Check your gauge and adjust as needed so the sizing comes out right. The recommended yarn amount will likely be different too.

Additional Notes:
This project uses a very low stitch definition yarn which means it will be challenging to see the stitches as you work. Use your fingers to feel where the stitches will need to be placed (and don’t stress too much about it…the fuzziness will hide any mistakes!)

Written Instructions
Blanket
Row 1: Ch 35. Hdc in 2nd ch from hk and in each rem ch. Ch 1 and turn. (34 sts)
Row 2: 1 hdc in every st. (34 sts)
Repeat: Rep row 2 until work measures 11” from starting edge. (Make sure the length and width are even so it’s square. Adjust the length as you need so it matches the width of your blanket.)
Fasten off and weave in ends.
Bunny Head
Round 1: Ch 2. 6 sc in 2nd ch from hk. Do not join. Cont working in a spiral. (6 sts)
Round 2: 2 sc in every st. (12 sts)
Round 3: 1 sc in 1st st. *2 sc in next st. 1 sc in next st. Rep from * to last st. 2 sc in last st. (18 sts)
Round 4: 1 sc in every st. (18 sts)
Round 5: 1 sc in first 2 sts. *2 sc in next st. 1 sc in next 2 sts. Rep from * to last st. 2 sc in last st. (24 sts)
Round 6: 1 sc in first 3 sts. *2 sc in next st. 1 sc in next 3 sts. Rep from * to last st. 2 sc in last st. (30 sts)
Rounds 7-10: 1 sc in every st. (30 sts)
Don’t fasten off. Pull up on working loop so you can pick it up later.
Embroider Nose
Step 1: Cut a piece of pink medium weight yarn about 18” long.
Step 2: Thread on yarn needle and feed it through so it’s doubled.
Step 3: Find center of circle and run yarn through from back to front (this is the bottom point of the nose)
Step 4: Using the photo for reference, run the needle back through (from front to back).
Step 5: On the back side, move the needle over and run it through to the front.
Step 6: Run the needle back through the bottom point and tie in a loose, but secure knot on the back.
Embroider Eyes
Step 1: Cut a piece of black medium weight yarn about 16” long. Using the photo for reference and following the same steps as the nose, embroider the eyes in place.
Cont crocheting the head.
Round 11: 1 sc in 1st 3 sts. *Sc2tog. 1 sc in next 3 sts. Rep from * to last 2 sts. Sc2tog. (24 sts)
Round 12: 1 sc in 1st 2 sts. *Sc2tog. 1 sc in next 3 sts. Rep from * to last 2 sts. Sc2tog. (18 sts)
Round 13: 1 sc in 1 st. *Sc2tog. 1 sc in next 3 sts. Rep from * to last 2 sts. Sc2tog. (12 sts)
Round 14: *Sc2tog. Rep from * to end of round. (6 sts)
Ears (Make 2)
Row 1: Ch 13. 1 sc in 2nd ch from hk and in next 3 ch. 1 hdc in next 4 ch. 1 dc in next 3 ch. 7 dc in last ch. (Rotate work to cont working sts in underside of ch.)
1 dc in next 3 ch. 1 hdc in next 4 ch. 1 sc in next 4 ch. Fasten off leaving a 6” tail.
Assembly
Step 1: Using the photo for reference, seam the ears in place.
Step 2: Cut a piece of pipsqueak yarn about 24” long. Thread on yarn needle doubled.
Step 3: Find center of blanket and place a marker there. Lay head over center marker with nose pointing towards a corner. Seam the head in place and tie to secure underneath.
