Block #18:
Clematis Garden Square
by Mamas 2 Hands
Above you can see the square that she made, featuring 4 colors. Below is my CAL square, in my 3 colors!
The Details
My Notes: The Clematis Garden Square is a quick one, working up in an evening or two. Andee’s design takes you through a wide variety of stitches, creating an appealing and lightweight design. A few of the rounds take some concentration – using a bookmark, sticky note, or pencil to help you keep your place in the paragraph will be a big help! Don’t be afraid to put the color changes in different spots – make this one your own!
Helpful Links and Tutorials: Magic Circle, Join with Sc (Standing Dc), Spike Stitches, ExDc or ExtDC, CSDC, Bobbles, and Seamless Finishing.
Sizing: My square measured up to size as written. But everyone’s gauge is different so be sure to measure as you go! Learn how to adjust for size HERE to make sure all your squares are the same size. Remember that the 12″ is measured across and up and down – not diagonally corner to corner.
What I Did: I used a Susan Bates US-J, 6.0 mm Twist and Lock hook, and Red Heart With Love, and my color scheme was as follows (see pics for more info on placement):
Rnds 1 and 2: Pewter
Rnds 3 and 4: White
Rnd 5: Pewter
Rnds 6 – 8: Light Gray
Rnd 9 – 11: White
Rnd 12: Pewter
Rnd 13: White
This square required mild blocking. I used the wet blocking method, or you could use light steam.
