Above you can see the square that she made, featuring 3 colors. Below is my CAL square, in my 3 colors! (I’m doing a stash buster, so these colors will change throughout the year. This is my first yellow one as I work through the rainbow!)

The Details for Square #4

My Notes: Settle in for a mini-CAL all-in-one square! This square is made of squares, all joined up and bordered for a little blanket inside your blanket. The Larkwood Crochet Block is made of 9 small squares, all with a lovely bit of graphic texture. I stuck with the original color plan (swapping out my colors of course), but there are so many opportunities to play with the color and layout here! A few final rounds make it easy to adjust for size, just be sure to measure as you go! I did make one small change, doing (2 sc, ch 2, 2 sc) in the corners of the final round because I know it will work best for the joining I plan to use.

Helpful Links and Tutorials: This square is made of just a few different stitches, but some interesting techniques! These tutorials may help: magic circle, CSDC in the ring, working in the 3rd loopShdc – Standing Half Double Crochet, and Seamless Finishing.

Sizing: My square got to 12″ as written, if not a hair over. But everyone’s gauge is different so be sure to measure as you go! Learn how to adjust for size HERE to make sure all your squares are the same size. Remember that the 12″ is measured across and up and down – not diagonally corner to corner.

What I Did:

I used a Susan Bates US-J, 6.0 mm Twist and Lock hook, and Red Heart With Love, and my color scheme was as follows (see pics for more info on placement):

Color A: Cornsilk
Color B:
White
Color C:
Light Gray

This square required a mild blocking. I used the wet blocking method.
