CROCHET GRANNY SQUARE PUMPKINS
Summer vacation is creeping to a close in our neck of the woods. We have thoroughly enjoyed the lazy, sticky-from-popsicles, too-much-junk food, play-til-you-drop days of the last couple months. Even though we all miss the summer freedom, we (ahem, me) also look forward to a predicable routine!
Which means it’s time to whip up some crochet pumpkins!
You may be interested in making some color work pumpkins, or whipping up a couple quick chunky pumpkins (and a squash or two?). But since Taylor Swift recently catapulted the humble granny square into the stratosphere, it might be a good time to whip up one or two of these granny square pumpkins!
ABOUT THIS PATTERN:
If you can make granny squares, you can make these pumpkins! These pumpkins are all made with a single granny square design included in the pattern. The pattern also includes instructions for three different granny square layouts, as well as general finishing instructions that can work for any size pumpkin. With this info, you can make up your own size and layout! I used the small 3 x 1 square pumpkin, and worked it with 2 strands of #5 yarn and a 7mm hook to make this fun chunky pumpkin. Because the pattern is so simple, you can easily memorize it after working a few squares and take your yarn on the road or with you and you go out and about.
