Bold Pink and Green Bathroom Design Ideas for Colorful Spaces

Green Tile Shower | Master Bathroom

Welcome to our bold pink-and-green master bathroom. This space completes our main bedroom suite and it feels amazing to have it finished. The bedroom and closet reveal informed much of this design, and this bathroom was an opportunity to introduce a fresh, dramatic color while still tying back to the warm pink and peach tones of the adjoining bedroom.

I wanted the bathroom to feel both cohesive with the bedroom and entirely new. Introducing deep green—specifically rich green zellige tile—was the move that made the room sing. From the bedroom the green reads like a bright, intentional accent and creates the energetic contrast I was after.

Below I share the design decisions, practical choices, and sources of inspiration that shaped this renovation, along with tips for using color and light in a small bathroom.

Before Photos

This room began as a very standard, builder-grade bathroom. The layout and structure existed, but the finishes felt dated and uninspired. Renovating a room like this is a chance to preserve useful elements while reimagining the aesthetic and functionality.

How To Save Money On A Bathroom Renovation

One of the best ways to save during a bathroom remodel is to keep plumbing in its existing locations. We kept the original layout to avoid expensive rerouting, while making strategic changes within that footprint. For example, we replaced the bath/shower combo with a larger walk-in shower and added a second sink where space allowed. For resale considerations, we plan to include a bathtub in another bathroom so the home maintains at least one tub.

Where To Start With A Bathroom Design

I recommend beginning with one major element that will anchor the room. For bathrooms, tile is an excellent starting point. Choosing a distinctive tile helps guide the palette, material choices, and overall mood so the rest of the decisions fall into place around that focal point.

Bold Green Bathroom Tile

We fell for zellige tile—a handmade terracotta tile from Morocco known for its vibrant glazes and organic, slightly irregular surfaces. Its uniqueness and subtle variations give a handcrafted, lively quality that mass-produced tiles rarely achieve. We chose a deep green that reads saturated and luxurious in our space, and installed it so the color becomes a defining feature of the bathroom.

For grout, we used colors that complement each tile field: a warm brown tone on the green zellige and an earthy shade on the pink hexagon floor tile. Check with your tile installer to confirm whether sanded or unsanded grout is appropriate for your tile selection and installation pattern.

  • Grout for green zellige: a sable-brown tone chosen to blend with the glaze.
  • Grout for pink hexagon floor tile: an earth tone to gently contrast and define the pattern.

Pink Concrete Sinks

After the tiles, the vanity was the next decision point. I wanted a simple wood vanity with good storage, and we adjusted the leg height to suit our ceiling and the vessel sinks. The blush pink concrete vessel sinks became a playful, tactile focal point—turning a standard bathroom fixture into a memorable design moment.

A colored sink is an easy way to make an everyday object feel special. These concrete basins contrast the marble counter and add softness to the deep greens and warm pinks in the room.

How To Add More Natural Light To A Small Space

This bathroom initially had no direct natural light. Rather than adding large windows that would conflict with vanity placement, we introduced multiple smaller sources: two narrow windows and two tubular skylights (sun tunnels). Sun tunnels are reflective, compact, and especially effective in small rooms—they bring significant daylight into areas that would otherwise remain dim. Adding these light sources transformed the space and made the colors and finishes come alive.

Beautiful, But Functional Bathroom Storage

Good storage makes a bathroom feel calm and organized. We retained the deep built-in shelves and used the back portion for folded towels while placing woven baskets in front to contain bulk items like extra toilet paper and toiletries. In the vanity, drawers keep everyday items tidy; drawer organizers and clear acrylic containers make it easy to maintain order.

We also installed a towel ladder instead of a bar to utilize vertical space and create a layered look on the wall. The ladder draws the eye upward toward a hanging plant and helps the wall feel intentionally styled rather than empty.

How to Add Character To A Space

Small architectural details can make a big difference. We softened the corner between the shelving and the shower with a subtle rounded edge to echo the home’s original 1930s rounded corners. That simple curve gives the bathroom a sense of cohesion with the rest of the house and elevates a functional partition into a thoughtful architectural moment.

Completing the Design of A Bathroom

Lighting, art, plants, and textiles finish a bathroom’s story. We added a custom sconce to provide softer, flattering light around the mirrors and to visually complete the vanity wall. Large-scale art anchors the opposite wall and pulls the palette together, while a hanging plant benefits from the added daylight and reinforces the deep green from the tiles across the room.

Finally, a vintage rug brings warmth and pattern beneath the vanity and ties the terra cotta and blush tones into the overall composition. A rug in front of the sink feels luxurious underfoot and visually grounds the space.

This pink-and-green bathroom is one of my favorite spaces we’ve designed. I prefer to take time choosing each detail so the finished room feels intentional and meaningful. When every element has been thoughtfully selected, the result is a home that feels personal and complete.
