Colorful Nursery Art Ideas for Arlo: Fun Kid-Friendly Prints

Colorful Kid-Friendly Art for a Nursery Gallery Wall

One of my favorite features of our home is the little built-in ledge in Arlo’s room. We debated what to put there and eventually turned it into a gallery ledge filled with colorful, kid-friendly art. Some pieces are prints I adore, while many were created by friends we hope will serve as role models for him. A few of the works carry special meaning for our family, and I’m excited to tell Arlo the stories behind each one as he grows. I wanted to share the collection and why we chose each piece.

No. 1 Neon Heart
I’ve seen this print around the internet for years and always wanted it. Now Arlo gets to have it in his room.

No. 2 Party Dinosaur
We suspect Arlo will love dinosaurs, in part because of the story behind his name. This felt like a playful nod to that.

No. 3 Rainbow
He’s our rainbow baby, so this print felt like a natural choice.

No. 4 For Like Ever (Bright Yellow)
A print I’ve admired for a long time. The yellow version adds a cheerful pop to the mix.

No. 5 Flo’s Cafe
We had lunch here on Arlo’s first trip to Disney. This print is by our friend Matt, who captures color and light beautifully.

No. 6 Pineapple
Made by our friend Chelsea, who helped us prepare for Arlo’s arrival when we were figuring everything out. The piece feels personal and sweet.

No. 7 Cacti on Pink
Photographed by our talented friend Caroline, who is genuinely kind and creative. This print brings a fresh, modern vibe.

No. 8 Balloon Car
Created by his mom and photographed by his dad—Jeff’s print felt like the perfect personal addition to the nursery.

No. 9 Huichol Yarn Painting
We’re including several pieces from Mexico to honor Arlo’s Mexican heritage. This yarn painting tells a meaningful story that we wanted represented in his room.

No. 10 Giraffe
One of my favorite gifts was this beautiful children’s book from a friend. The illustrations double as poster-worthy artwork for the nursery.

No. 11 Minimal UP print by Wonchan Lee
Lauren and I bought these minimal Pixar prints years ago and I’ve saved this UP print because the movie is so special to me; it even accompanied me down the aisle. It’s no longer available, but it’s meaningful enough that I had to include it.

We’re still finishing the nursery and refining the look, but the gallery ledge has been a fun way to gather colorful, sentimental pieces in one spot. Which is your favorite? I can’t wait to share the finished room and more of the inspiration behind each item.
