A Bit About the Designer
Nicole’s designs are colorful, fun, and full of life! Here’s a bit about Nicole Riley, the designer behind Nicki’s Homemade Crafts, in her own words:
“When I was a teen, my grandma taught me how to knit, which inspired me to try crocheting — but I wasn’t successful. After a few years away, focusing on other crafts, as well as track and field and volleyball in high school, I returned to yarn crafts in college. That’s when I finally learned the difference between UK and US crochet terms and realized why it didn’t work out before. My love for yarn and chatting with my grandma about it never left me; it only grew stronger.
In 2016, I began designing and publishing my first crochet patterns as a hobby, and by 2019, I became a full-time designer. Coming from a crafty family, my creativity blossomed as I continued to design and crochet. I often find inspiration in everyday machine-made products, reimagining them through yarn.
But my biggest inspiration comes from the crochet community — especially the members of The Crochet Club™ (TCC™), our membership of nearly 1,000 crocheters.
I design patterns based on ideas and requests provided by TCC™ members, which I teach LIVE each week. We also meet twice a month on Zoom, chatting about crochet, bonding, and building lasting friendships. The TCC™ community also inspires many of my eBooks — over 36 self-published so far — covering everything from 900+ Crochet Tips to Mosaic Crochet, Tunisian Crochet, Moving Hats, and more.
To connect with crocheters even more, I host various crochet-alongs throughout the year — monthly Mystery CALs, bi-monthly LIVE CALs, and our annual Mosaic Blanket CAL.
I also love collaborating with other designers through our bi-monthly crochet pattern bundles, which usually include 30–40 designers.
With over 800 published patterns, Nicki’s Homemade Crafts™ is a place where every crocheter can find something they’ll love to make.”
