Crochet This Strawberry Inspired Shawl Today – Fraise-Rhubarbe! – Expression Fiber Arts | A Positive Twist on Yarn

[ad_1]

Hello, my sweet friend! Today, I have a delightfully fun, crochet shawl that I know you’re going to love. It’s inspired by the designer’s favorite treat, so read on to learn all about it!

Fraise-Rhubarbe was designed by Donielle Oliver Showvay. When asked about her pattern, Donielle said, “For as long as I can remember, my dad and I have shared the love of strawberries together with rhubarb. I have special memories as a young child, enjoying picking fresh strawberries and rhubarb from my mother’s garden and making a delicious pie, sometimes as a special surprise for my dad. With every bite, there was a burst of sweet, tart flavor that was irresistible!”

“Fraise-Rhubarbe is a rectangular shawl that’s crocheted with beautiful gradients of red, offset by luscious green accents. Each section of red is filled with little spike stitches that represent the cute, little seeds scattered all over a strawberry. The green accents have fun, little nupps for added texture. A delicate border is added for a finished look on the edges.”

This Intermediate level pattern is for those who feel comfortable with crocheting and have made a few projects, using various skills and techniques. Skills/concepts include Single Crochet Spike Stitch, Nupp Stitch, and Single Crochet 1 Below Stitch.

Fraise-Rhubarbe is crocheted with our soft, strong, and wonderful Luster Worsted yarn. Everyone who sees and feels this yarn base loves it and exclaims how beautiful it is! Shimmering and soft and ideal for sweaters, blankets, accessories, and more. Luster Worsted is made from a blend of 50% Superwash Merino Wool and 50% Lyocell with 200 yds/183 m per 4 oz/113 g skein.

The sample shown here was crocheted with our Strawberry Hues Luster Worsted Kit and used approximately 940 yds/860 m total: Color A: 140 yds/128 m, Color B: 200 yds/183 m, Color C: 200 yds/183 m, Color D: 200 yds/183 m, and Color E: 200 yds/183 m.

We made a video showing how to get started crocheting this shawl. Grab some yarn and a hook, and follow along with me!

This pattern includes written instructions, as well as a schematic, and also features a Row Map from our friend Chad at ChadKnits. A Row Map is a simple, printable checklist that tells you exactly where you are in the pattern, which written instructions to follow, and even which color to use. All you have to do is check off each row as you go. Easy peasy!
