An Interview About della Q!

We took a minute to sit down with Shannon and ask the hard-hitting questions about what inspires her, obstacles she had to overcome when going through the design process, her favorite features, and more! Continue reading to check out the full interview!

1.) Out of all of the new della Q Maker’s bags, which one is closest to your heart and why?

– The bag I reach for most often is the Maker’s Roll Top! I’m a sucker for crossbody style bags, and this one is the perfect size for all my go-to’s while not feeling too heavy after a long day.

I can also get in and out of it with ease but still feel like my valuables are protected. Plus, it’s a great project bag!!

2.) Do you have a favorite shade in the Lotus Collection? Do you have any dreams for a new color that hasn’t been asked for very often by fans of della Q?

Petal is my new fav! It’s such a fresh and fun shade of pink that feels unexpected in a canvas bag. Petal was a best-selling Namaste color which made it an obvious choice for a new summer color for della Q. As for future colors, I’m on the hunt for several colors but the perfect shade of purple or teal is at the top of my list.

3.) What was the hardest obstacle to overcome in creating a line of bags that’s both functional and aesthetically pleasing?

– Patience and timing can be very challenging. When we create a new bag or new feature, it can take 9-12 months from concept to launch. We generally have several rounds of samples with changes and tweaks at each stage. It takes lots of patience and an eye for detail to make a great product.

4.) What is your favorite feature from any bag of your choosing?

– The yarn feeder is by far my favorite feature. That was Laura’s (aka Jimmy’s) idea and I think it’s genius!

We do have an amazing new feature coming for Fall 2021 but it’s still top secret for now! 😉

5.) Speaking of secrets, what products are you currently working on that you’re most excited about?

– We have so many exciting things coming for the Fall/Winter season! If I have to pick just one, I’d say the return of the Maker’s Train Case. We’ve taken all the great features of the original Namaste case and stepped it up a notch! These cases are so fun and functional, it’s definitely going on my wishlist!
